For thousands of years clay has been used for modeling/sculpting. At The Pottery Garden we do not limit you in your creative desires, we nurture them!
Let your creative juices flow! In this "Taboo" version of the Earthmade Experience Pottery Class feel free to create all the projects you probably couldn't do at other pottery studios. Classes are usually done in a step by step group "build along" structure, this makes for great fun as it provides an opportunity for students to critique each other throughout the making process(of course you can plot your own course if you like).
Guests are received at their desired staring point and shuttled in air conditioned comfort with historical information about the scenic drive to and from The Pottery Garden(coastal and ridge road). On arrival Potter/Instructor Karl Burnett gives an introduction of the grounds and himself as a Ceramic Artist. In the workshop, Karl then quickly explains a bit about pottery "hand building" techniques and then demonstrates making different shaped pieces on the potter's wheel. Now it is your chance to get your hands in the mud! Have a try at the potter's wheel or hand build your own creation! After all the clay play fun, Karl shows you a bit more detail about his outdoor wood fired kiln and tropical garden. Finally, browse through the studio gallery of beautiful handcrafted pottery on sale and get yourself a lovely reminder of your trip to The Virgin Islands. You are will also enjoy looking at our exhibit of wildlife craft in various media from around the world. Next, have a quick look at the wildlife at the pond(including flamingos) and beautiful Josiah's Bay Beach before being shuttled back to your starting point.
